In order to deal freely with goods imported from countries not members of the European Union, they must be placed under the customs procedure: release for free circulation, drawing up the customs declaration of import and paying the duties or customs charges payable on imports of goods.
It should be recalled that certain goods are subject to prohibitions and restrictions (e.g. licences and licences) and other formalities (e.g. veterinary, phytosanitary, food safety, safety of non-food products and other controls and formalities) should be completed.

Process description

  1. Service requests
Customs declarations must be submitted electronically through EMDAS. All relevant supporting documents must be submitted with the customs declaration (Article 163 of the Union Customs Code). The person who submits the customs declaration must save the documents for at least 3 years (unless stated otherwise) and present them upon request to SRS officials.
Additional documents relating to specific customs clearance of goods are located in the TARIC data base (permits, licences, certificates, etc.).
Detailed information on customs declarations, including declaration forms, can be found at www.vid.gov.lv under “Customs”.

  2. Receipt of services
